EASTER

We celebrated Easter in Utah with Weston's family. The kids love going to Utah, because they love playing with their cousins. Weston got Good Friday off, so we drove to Utah on Thursday night. We left sunny Las Vegas and got to Provo just before it started snowing again. Luckily Sharman had emailed me during the week to inform me to bring our winter clothes. On Friday we went up to campus to buy the boys BYU shirts and to have lunch with our favorite babysitter Brittany. We have missed Brittany so much since she started BYU. It was so cute, when Hunter saw her he ran up to her and said, "Brittany, where have you been?" There were times that he would ask me when Brittany was going to come and play. I forgot to bring my camera for lunch, so this is a really old picture of Brittany and the boys.




Then we went to Andrea's house to play. Hunter and Walter get along really well with the cousins, it's so nice that they are so close in age. On Saturday had our Sunrise Service and went to McDonalds for breakfast. When we returned to Grandma and Grandpa's house we looked for our Easter baskets.



On Sunday we watched General Conference and had a delicious Easter Brunch.

The following Sunday the kids wore their new Easter outfits and I wore my new Easter dress. This year I decided to make my own, I wanted it to match the boys outfits. I think it turned out o.k.

Airplane Birthday Party

Hunter celebrated his fourth birthday last Saturday. A couple of months ago I had asked him what kind of birthday party he wanted and he said "Airplane Birthday Party" I knew exactly where to go to get ideas- Cutest Little Things. Judy had thrown a birthday party for her son a couple of months ago with the same theme and it was perfect. I order the same invitations and favor bags as she did-super cute!! I just wish that my cookies had turned out as cute as Judy's.

We decided that we would have different stations for the kids. To keep with the airplane theme we printed out pretend passports, and after each activity the kids would get a stamp in their passports.

We played airplane theme games like:


Take -off Obstacle Course

Bus, Bus, Plane (Duck, Duck, Goose)

Pin the Pilot on the Plane (Pin the Tail on the Donkey)

When the kids finished all the activities Weston pinned on their pilot wings.
Luckily Weston had just done some traveling he asked the flight attendants if they still give out pilot wings to the kids. Well when they found out we were having an airplane party they were more than willing to help and gave us enough pilot wing pins that each of the kids could get one. Here is Weston pinning Hunter.

Another fun thing was that as the kids were going from station to station, we had them take turns wearing Hunter's airplane costume from Halloween.

After all the fun games the pilots came in for some treats.

Dr. Seuss Week

Last week during school time we did some fun activities to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday. We started on Monday by reading The Cat in the Hat, and making a hat from a oatmeal container. Throughout the week after we read another Dr. Seuss book we would add a white stripe with the name of the book to the hat. I got this idea from a Mailbox Magazine. By the end of the week our hat looked like this.

With each book we read we would do another activity. For There's a Wocket in my Pocket we played a rhyming game. We had cupcakes after reading The Sneetches, we decorated them with yellow frosting and then some had green star sprinkles and some did not. We made Oobleck after reading Bartholomew and the Oobleck. I really wanted to get pictures of the boys playing with it, but my camera battery died. For Green Eggs and Ham, one of the boy's favorite, I made a felt play set of green eggs and ham.

I got the pattern for the eggs at Wee Folk Art and for the ham I didn't really have a pattern but Dana at MADE had made a set so I looked at hers as a reference. We had so much fun during the whole week. I noticed that Hunter kept trying to put the oatmeal box hat on to pretend. So though I didn't originally plan to, I made the boys hats.

For these I did follow the tips and directions at MADE. As I was taking these pictures, I couldn't help but think how fun it would be to dress them up as Thing One and Thing Two.

Camping in Feburary

The third week of February we decided to go camping at the Valley of Fire. We figured that since moving to Las Vegas we better camp now, because during the summer, I don't think we are going to be wanting to spend of alot of time outside. Weston came home around 2 o'clock on Friday and we headed out. It was just an hour drive and we were there. The Valley of Fire turned out to be the perfect location for a family with young children. After setting up camp we decided to go on a short walk before it got too dark.

I was trying to get Walter to stand under the archway (I thought it would make a cute picture), but he just wouldn't stand still long enough.

It didn't take long before the boys were climbing on rocks and having a blast. After we ate dinner, Hunter wanted to be in the tent. He was so excited about sleeping in his sleeping bag. It was still early so we played Memory.

We could only get Hunter to play three rounds before he declared that it was time for bed. I wish he was always so excited about bedtime. The next morning we went out for three short hikes. The first one was to see some cool petroglyphs

The second one to Elephant Rock. Doesn't it look like a Elephant, we sure thought it did.

And the third one was to the Mouse's Tank

Hunter had so much fun playing in the sand. But by the end the boys were tired and just wanted to lay down.

It was just a one night stay, but it was sure fun to get away. Hunter has already asked us numerous times when we are going camping again.
